Emergency services have descended on an area outside one of London’s busiest rail stations after two men were stabbed.

Police and paramedics swarmed the streets outside Victoria station on Tuesday ahead of the afternoon rush hour.

Scotland Yard said police were called to reports of a stabbing in Wilton Road at 4.20pm.

Officers arrived at the scene and found two men with stab injuries.

Both men were taken to a central London hospital, police said.

Wilton Road was cordoned off at the junction with Victoria station as officers carried out their investigations.

An alleyway in between a shoe repair shop and a restaurant was also sealed off by police.

A 43-year-old man, who asked not to be named, told the Standard: "I came out of the station and things were calm inside but there were some youths being held by Met police outside and an increasing number of police cars were arriving.

"A medical team was attending to a man sitting down on a stretcher but he was conscious and speaking to an officer.

"One block away on Wilton street there were more police cars.

"Police at that other scene had cordoned off an alley and seemed to be searching for evidence or someone.

"It seems like there may have been a chase going on because the crime scene was split in these two locations. The cordoned off alley was close to the Sainsbury's on Wilton Road."

Simon Moores tweeted: "Good grief major police incident at Victoria station now."

Police said the men's injuries were not thought to life-threatening or life-changing.
