Two teenagers have been arrested over the stabbing of a 12-year-old boy in in Croydon.

The victim was stabbed in the leg and hand outside a branch of Tesco Express on Whitehorse Road in Selhurst.

The boys, both 15, were held over the stabbing yesterday on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. They are currently in custody at a south London police station.

Police were called to Whitehorse Road at 4.50pm on Monday.

They believe the 12-year-old was approached by three individuals who went through his pockets.

There was then an "altercation" which resulted in the victim being stabbed, police said.

The boy, who was taken to a south London hospital by paramedics but has since been released, was one of five youths to be stabbed in Croydon within eight days.
