Police are hunting a thug who slapped a disabled man on a train after he tried to barge his way into a busy toilet.

The 40-year-old victim was inside the toilet when a man attempted to push the door open and was subjected to a torrent of verbal abuse when he told him it was occupied.

When he left the cubicle, the man continued to swear at him before he pushed him to the ground. The man then refused to let the victim get back on his feet and slapped him across the face.

The assault took place on the 12.40am train between London Liverpool Street and Gidea Park stations on May 24.

British Transport Police said the victim was left traumatised as a result.

Investigating officer PC Daniel Huggins said: “This assault left the victim with pain in his hip and meant he is now very anxious about using public transport.

“He was unable to fight back due to the fact he is registered disabled.

“Abusive behaviour like this is completely unacceptable and so we are working tirelessly to find the offender and get justice for the victim.

“We would like to speak to the man in this image as we think he has valuable information which could help the investigation.

“If you recognise him, or have any information which you think could help, please contact us immediately.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016, quoting 287 of 21/7.
