A man is accused of bludgeoning to death his own father at the flat where they had both been living in Kensington, a court has heard.

Aston Lambert, 32, is accused of carrying out a “sustained” attack on 78-year-old Alban Lambert during a “disturbance” at their shared home in Longridge Road, near Earl’s Court.

The alleged killer appeared at the Old Bailey on Friday via videolink from Wandsworth prison for a preliminary hearing, after being charged with a single count of murder.

“The defendant is charged with murder”, said prosecutor Louise Oakley.

“It is a multiple occupancy property containing five flats, and the defendant and his father had been living at one of the flats at that location.

“Police were called to the address after reports of a disturbance.”

It is said Mr Lambert sr. died after sustaining injuries to his head, neck and chest.

The Metropolitan Police said it was called out at around 3pm on Sunday, with officers and then paramedics attempting without success to revive the pensioner.

Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our deepest condolences are offered to the family and all those who knew the victim.”

Lambert was remanded in custody by Judge Philip Katz KC until a plea hearing on June 21.

A provisional trial date has been set for January 20 next year at the Old Bailey, though the case may be moved to a different courthouse to find an earlier trial date.

Lambert spoke only to confirm his identity at the start of the court hearing.
