A teenager was rushed to hospital after being knifed in broad daylight outside a Lidl supermarket in east London.

Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were scrambled to Atlanta Boulevard in Romford at about 1.20pm on Tuesday.

A man aged in his late teens was stabbed, Scotland Yard said.

He was taken to an east London hospital. Police confirmed later that his injuries were not life threatening.

Images posted on social media showed police cars, ambulances and the air ambulance at the scene in Romford town centre.

Another video showed the air ambulance landing as the road was sealed off. The road remained closed while a police investigation was carried out.

Havering MPS tweeted: “There will be some disruption to public transport until the initial investigation is concluded.”
