A hunt has been launched for a gang mugging commuters on trains and at railway stations.

Detectives today released images of five men in connection with seven alleged robberies on the transport network in three weeks.

A man travelling with his wife had a chain snatched on a train from Herne Hill to Sydenham last Wednesday.

Two further men had jewellery stolen. One victim was robbed at Elephant and Castle Tube station on August 8 and the other suffered facial injuries when a chain was pulled from his neck on a train from Tulse Hill to Streatham on August 27.

Mobile phones were also targeted with devices taken at Sydenham station on August 8, Sydenham Hill a day later and Lower Sydenham station on August 19. A man was also mugged on a train from Herne Hill to Sydenham station on August 14.

British Transport Police believe the men in the CCTV images could have information which could help their investigation.

Anyone who recognises them can text BTP on 61016, call 0800 40 50 40 quoting ref 1900075054 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
