A gun that was found by a child in a children’s play area in west London has been seized by police.

The young boy, whose age has not been revealed, discovered the weapon in a bush while playing in Magravine Gardens in Fulham.

The child’s mother then called police, who sent specialist armed response officers to secure the area at about 5pm on Sunday.

A Hammersmith and Fulham MPS spokeswoman said: “A Firearms-trained forensic officer then attended the location to make the firearm safe and has seized it for forensics.

“Enquiries ongoing at this stage to see if the weapon has been used in any offences.”
