Police have interviewed a London bus driver after he was filmed apparently pleasuring himself on the top deck by a member of the public.

The 46-year-old driver appeared to engage in a lewd act with his trousers around his ankles on the upper deck of a 123 bus in Wood Green, north London.

It was filmed by someone outside the bus, which was parked at the side of a shopping centre on Buller Road, just off High Road, on Saturday, November 7.

Scotland Yard has now confirmed an investigation is under way and the driver, from Waltham Forest, is suspected of outraging public decency.

Officers are understood to have viewed close-up footage from the bus’s CCTV system.

The original video was viewed tens of thousands of times after being posted online under the heading “London bus driver jerking off on service”.

In the clip, the driver appears to pleasure himself next to a window while leaning over one of the chairs.

He keeps a T-shirt on throughout the vulgar performance, which lasts for about 90 seconds before he stops and pulls up his trousers.

A spokesman for Arriva, the bus company, said the internal footage “does not show a different outcome of events”.

He also revealed that the driver had resigned days before he was due to face a disciplinary hearing. He had been suspended while an investigation was carried out.

“Police have viewed the on board CCTV evidence and we understand they’re still investigating,” he said.

“We have no ties with him anymore.”

A spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Police said: “Officers from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are investigating an allegation of outraging public decency on a bus in Haringey.

“Officers were made aware of an incident on a bus in Buller Road, Wood Green, on Saturday, November 7.

“A 46-year-old man from Waltham Forest was interviewed under caution in connection with the incident. Enquiries continue.”
