Police are appealing for help to identify members of a gang of marauding bikers who sparked "mayhem" in Nottingham as they careened through the city centre on motorbikes and quad bikes.

The bikers – who pulled wheelies, ran red lights and rode on the wrong side of the road – were caught on CCTV as they ripped through the city’s streets on April 30 at about 5pm.

In the footage, they can be seen weaving around cars, motorbikes, and even a road cleaning vehicle, all of which slowed or stopped to avoid collisions.

Some of the riders, including child, were not wearing helmets.

Police are seeking members of the group in connection with driving offences.

"This is an ongoing police investigation and lines of enquiry are already being followed. We've released this CCTV to assist with our investigation and help identify those responsible,” said Sergeant Huw Jones, of Nottinghamshire Police.

"The manner of driving was extremely dangerous and their behaviour was unacceptable. We want to identify who these people are. They committed numerous offences and put the safety of other motorists and pedestrians at risk.

"I don't want to see a repeat of these irresponsible marauding motorcyclists and quad bikers coming into the city centre and causing mayhem.

"I'd like to reassure the public that we are taking action to tackle this menace of quad bikes and motorbikes being used in an anti-social manner on our streets.

"We need help from our communities to identify those responsible so we can deal with these offenders."
