A man was subjected to “shocking” racial abuse and commuters were threatened on a rush hour train through north London, police said.
Several passengers reported the abuse to police after the incident on a commuter train between Palmers Green and Alexandra Palace.
Two men are thought to have boarded the Herford North to Moorgate Service at Palmers Green on Monday, October 5.
Witnesses said a man - described as Asian, black or mixed-race and in his mid-20s with long black tied back hair and a tattoo on the left side of his neck and a black hat and leather jacket – then racially abused the victim before leaving the train at Alexandra Palace.
Other passengers had also been threatened after stepping in to confront the alleged abuser, police said.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: “We received reports of a man racially abusing and threatening another man on board a service from Hertford North to Moorgate at around 8am. A number of passengers were also threatened by the man after they challenged his behaviour.
“This was an extremely intimidating for all those involved on a busy rush hour train. We don’t tolerate hate crime on the rail network and we’d urge anyone who can help to come forward.”
