The mother of a teenager shot and stabbed to death today made an emotional appeal to trace his killers 13 years on from the brutal murder.

It came as a £20,000 reward was launched for information about the death of Anton Hyman, 17, who was beaten, stabbed multiple times and shot in the back in Ealing.

His body was found on March 21, 2004, which was Mother’s Day, in the River Brent at 11.10am.

Vanessa Hyman, Anton’s mother, today said: “The lives of our family changed forever. We need answers, we need to know what happened, but most of all we need justice for Anton.

“Somebody must know who killed Anton. Somebody must have noticed something, seen something or heard something. There seems to be a wall of silence around his killers.

“Anton has a little sister. She was only six-years-old when she lost her brother. The innocence of her childhood was taken away.

“Anton is dearly missed by his family and friends. We appeal to anyone who has information to please come forward.”

Detectives believe he was killed the night before when CCTV captured him at about 8pm. He was last seen between Greenford Avenue and Brent Valley Park in Hanwell.

A person answered a call from his phone that evening when police believe he had already died, but have been unable to trace them.

The teenager, who was 5ft 6in, was wearing distinctive bright multi-coloured gloves, blue and white Timberland boots, dark jeans, a dark grey fleece, green t-shirt and green shirt with “Iceberg” written on the breast pocket.

Nine men and one woman have been arrested since, but released with no further action taken.

DI David Bolton, of the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: “It happened a long time ago, but I am certain that there are people in the local area who remember Anton’s murder, and know what happened.”

Anyone with information should call police on 020 8785 8244 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
