Man charged with murder after Leytonstone knife attack

A man has been charged with stabbing Petro Bebko to death in east London

Police were scrambled to Leytonstone to reports that the victim, 23, had suffered a knife wound.

They administered emergency first aid alongside paramedics from the London Ambulance Service. However, he died at the scene on Thursday.

Mykola Yakymets, 34, has been charged with killing Mr Bebko at an address in South Birkbeck Road.

He will appear in custody at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Monday,

A police statement said: “An investigation was launched after police were called at around 23:51hrs on Thursday, 18 April to an address in South Birkbeck Road, E11.

“Officers attended and found a man suffering stab injuries. They provided emergency first aid alongside paramedics from the London Ambulance Service. Despite their efforts, the man died at the scene.”
