Islington man charged with attempted murder after member of his family is stabbed

A man is due in court today charged with attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed a family member in Islington.

Carl Thomas, 25, is facing allegations that he attacked a 54-year-old man, who police said is his relative, in Highbury Quadrant on Wednesday.

Police were called to reports of a stabbing just after 5.50pm and found the injured man.

They soon after charged Thomas with attempted murder. He is due to appear from custody at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court today.

Scotland Yard said today that the victim remained in a "critical condition" in hospital.

A 24-year-old man was also arrested in connection with the attack and has been bailed until late August, police said.
