A man has died two days after being stabbed in a "seemingly unprovoked" attack in north London.

The 33-year-old was stabbed in the leg shortly before 3.10am on Saturday, near the junction of Seven Sisters Road and Vartry Road.

He was treated at the scene by medics before being rushed to a north London hospital, where he died on Monday.

His next of kin have been informed.

A formal identification has yet to take place and a post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course, police said.

The Metropolitan Police's Homicide and Major Crime Unit is leading the investigation.

No arrests have been made.

"Detectives continue to appeal for information and witnesses after the victim of a seemingly unprovoked attack on Saturday died two days later," Scotland Yard said in statement.

"Detectives from North Area Command had launched an urgent investigation following the assault. The investigation will now be led by colleagues from the Homicide and Major Crime Command."

Witnesses have been asked to contact police on 101 with crime reference CAD/1360/1JUN.
