A young man is fighting for life in hospital after he was stabbed in the neck in a busy tourist hotspot in central London.

The victim, aged in his 20s, was stabbed in Covent Garden on Wednesday afternoon.

Scotland Yard said police were called to reports of an assault in Brydges Place, at about 2.20pm.

Officers and paramedics from London Ambulance Service raced to the scene and found the man suffering from multiple stab injuries.

He has been taken to a central London hospital with injuries believed to be life-threatening, police said.

A Met spokesman said: “A man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

“He has been taken to a central London police station where he remains in custody. A crime scene is in place.”
