An eight-year-old boy has died in hospital four days after being hit by a car in east London.

The victim was knocked down in Jessam Avenue, Clapton last Wednesday evening.

Paramedics tooks him to hospital in a critical condition but he died on Sunday evening.

The car driver, who is aged in his 20s, stopped at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

He has been bailed until a date in mid-November, Scotland Yard said.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash, which happened at about 8.20pm on November 11.
