A young man has died and a teenage girl is fighting for  life in hospital after taking “dangerous” drugs that were likely contaminated.

The pair, aged 25 and 18, are believed to have taken ketamine containing a possible “cocktail of toxic ingredients”, police in Wales said.

“We are issuing a warning after an investigation has been launched into the supply of dangerous drugs, believed to be linked to ketamine, in the Cardiff area,” a spokesman for South Wales Police said on Sunday.

“This comes following the death of a 25-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman is in a critical condition in hospital.

“These drugs are illegal and there is every possibility that they may contain a cocktail of toxic ingredients.”

Anyone with information relating to the use or sale of drugs is urged to contact police on 101.
