Florence and the Machine performed a touching duet with a teenage fan as the star made an impromptu visit to see her in a hospice.

The girl, 15, had been due to watch Florence Welch and her band play in Austin, Texas, on Thursday night, but missed the gig because of her illness.

But Florence stopped by at the Christopher House hospice to perform a special acoustic version of her hit Shake It Out.

Under a video of the duet, performed with the teenager's family and friends around the bed, the hospice wrote: "Today we were privileged to witness the clear joy of a room full of teenagers singing with Florence Welch and guitarist Rob Ackroyd from Florence and The Machine who came to Hospice Austin's Christopher House to give a private concert to a teen who missed her concert last night due to her illness."

The message added: "The room was full; full of joy and warmth and love and life and singing. Thank you, Florence!"

The video has been viewed thousands of times since being posted online.

Florence and the Machine, from London, are currently on a world tour promoting last year's album 'How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful'.
