Cool stay of the week: a rural cottage close to the Jurassic Coast

With modern amenities and countryside views, this cottage is the ideal weekend getaway
1/10

In the heart of the Westcountry, with stunning views of the rolling hillsides, this week’s Cool Stay of the Week oozes charm and guarantees serenity.

With whitewashed exterior walls, gleaming hardwood floors and endless quirky touches in the design and interior décor, Candlestick Cottage is primed for your next holiday.

Inside, the expansive kitchen marries contemporary, confident lines with a more classical, timeless aesthetic. With slate-look worktops, timber floors, and tasteful, stylish tiling, the kitchen opens directly onto the patio outside via a glass door. This means that you can gaze out over the hills of Dorset as you prepare a meal using delicious local ingredients.

The spacious living room benefits from light all day, pouring in through the windows to create an airy space. This is the ultimate room to unwind in after a long day exploring some of Dorset’s well-kept secret spots, either on the coast or the country.

Upstairs, both of the king-size bedrooms benefit from stunning views. The standout feature is certainly the roll-top bath in the master bedroom, boxed in with timber trim, making it the perfect place to relax for a post-hike soak with a book.

Spend evenings at Candlestick Cottage in the south-facing garden. A firepit is provided to ensure a magical end to each day, while a nearby barbecue also means that you can cook a delicious al-fresco meal.
