Why did you choose Gabriel’s Wharf?
I met my husband Richard Leaf in 1996 and we spent the summer walking around London. He used to take me down on to the riverbank where he’d collect washed-up pieces of glass and driftwood and make them into objets d’art for me.
Is your body beach-ready?
The term ‘beach body’ doesn’t come into my frame of reference any more. I’ve got a very sturdy swimming costume and that’s fine.
What drink makes you think of summer?
The first sip from a glass of really cold Lanson champagne.
What do you order from an ice-cream van?
A 99 with two flakes.
What do you serve at a barbecue?
I’m a veggie, so halloumi on the BBQ, served with a beetroot and goat’s cheese salad.
What do you recommend reading this summer?
Tim Lott’s new novel Under the Same Stars, which is beautiful. It’s about a journey, so it’s a good one to read on holiday.
Where are you going on holiday?
Down to the South of France by train with some friends. We’ll be staying in the countryside, speaking French and eating delicious food. There’s something wonderfully simple about the French lifestyle.
What do you reach for when you come off stage?
A lime and soda, and a Nivea face wipe.
What do you most look forward to about summer in London?
I love the light, it really lifts your spirits when you can see more sky. And I enjoy meeting friends outside because people are more relaxed.
