Ollie Locke at Tooting Bec Lido

The Made in Chelsea star does his summer wooing under cover of darkness and is more macho than you think

Why did you choose Tooting Bec Lido?

It’s the hugest pool I’ve ever seen in my life, and all the colourful doors are very 1950s Blackpool. God, that makes me sound gay.

What do you most look forward to about summer in London?

Suddenly the sun comes out and all these attractive people emerge. One hot day and the King’s Road turns into Rodeo Drive.

Which part of your body do you worry about revealing?

I’ve got a fat arse and wouldn’t be seen dead in Speedos. They suit no one except David Gandy.

How do you prepare your tan?

My skin is quite grey naturally, so I like being able to coat myself in a glossy brown. I go to Portobello Studio for the Brazilian spray.

What do you like wearing in summer?

White. It brings out the tan and the eyes.

Is your body beach-ready?

Not quite, I need a couple more weeks. I didn’t used to be very fit, so sex was becoming an issue – halfway through I’d be panting like an old Jack Russell. So I got a personal trainer and now I’m much fitter.

Where’s the most romantic place in London in the summer?

I’m a genius at romance. The best thing is to drive around London at night. And the Serpentine late in the afternoon is quite sweet.

What do you order from an ice-cream van?

A 99. But they aren’t 99p any more – f***ing inflation. They should be renamed £2.20s.

What do you like to cook on a barbecue?

I’m a lot more manly than people think, a lot more primitive, so I serve a lot of meat: ribs, steak, sausages.

What’s your song of the summer?

Ben Howard’s ‘Only Love’, because it sounds like he’s singing ‘Ollie Locke’.

Are you going to any events this summer?

I might go to Wimbledon for a day of strawberries and cream. Ascot is a bit naff now, and don’t even get me started on the Cartier Polo.
