You can now buy jeans and pyjamas that stop your farts from smelling

Shreddies, the UK brand that makes flatulence-filtering underwear, has expanded its repertoire to include outerwear

It might come as a surprise to some of you that fart-combatting clothing already exists. UK brand Shreddies makes underwear for men and women that stop your farts from smelling, saving multitudes from embarrassment. And now, it has added a new range of pyjamas and jeans that promise to be "super comfy, sexy and, of course, stylish"

So how do these wonder garments work? Each one includes a back panel made using Zortex, a highly porous material that absorbs all bad odours by neutralising them. When you wash your underpants - or your jeans - the Zortex filtration system is reactivated and ready to combat flatulence once more.

The new pyjama range is made from cotton and the jeans from denim, with both being handmade by a team of seamstresses in Leicestershire. The question is, how will these new items hold all the naughty smells in?

Manager Richard Woolley explains: "The jeans and pyjamas feature a full carbon lining from the waistband to just above the knee which gives increased protection from odours."

But this is not the end of the line for Shreddies. Woolley said: "After the success of Shreddies Flatulence Filtering underwear our design team decided to see what other products 'Zorflex' could be used in. We are still working on the designs for trousers suitable for workwear and other items like chinos."

Since the average person passes wind around 14 times a day, these new additions could come in very handy and prevent all sorts of awkward situations on first dates, flying and staying with friends. For extra protection, you can double up your Shreddies denim with a pair of its award-winning pants - or go commando if you're feeling brave.

As the company's motto goes: fart with confidence.
