11 stunning photos of the White House adorned with Christmas decorations

Of course the internet has turned it into a meme
1/11

It's officially the first weekend of December which means it is now socially acceptable to put your Christmas tree and decorations up.

Yet, the White House and its inhabitants have already debuted their take on Christmas decorations and First Lady of the United States Melania Trump, dressed in a creamy white, bell-sleeved Dior dress, unveiled the decorations on Monday.

While the majority of the rooms are stunning, one room in particular has left the internet scratching their heads.

Melania's Communications Director tweeted the below picture which has left some users saying the White House looks more doom and gloom than festive and cheery.

Naturally, the memes followed quickly, mocking the darkness of the hallway and the likeness Stanley Kubrick's horror film The Shining.

We must admit, there is a likeness.

Other than this passageway, the rest of the house was filled with light and traditional Christmas colours.

If a moody Christmas is your thing, this is perfect inspiration.
