Have you ever wondered whether you can create a giant sized tube map with tins upon tins of Quality Street? Well, the people at the Londonist.com did and the outcome is a sight to behold.

The giant chocolate tube map is the handiwork of tube enthusiast Geoff Marshall and a team of 11 volunteers from Londonist.com. Geoff has twice been the holder of the world record for travelling to every London underground stop in the fastest time.

Marshall told the Evening Standard: “I’m a little obsessed with the underground and noticed a correlation between the colours of Quality Street and the tube map – and thought maybe this is possible.”

It took the team about one hour to complete the large map, with the brightly coloured Quality Street wrappers matched perfectly to the lines on the tube map.

In total they used an immense 1,563 chocolates, with some to spare for sustenance and all important quality control. Although describing the choice of tastiest line as “a bit like marmite” – you either love one or hate it, Geoff Marshall brands the Bakerloo line as his top pick.

The shortest, at just eight chocolates in length, is the Waterloo & City line while the lengthy overground used 243 orange chocolates.

They bought 42 tins of chocolate in total; some were offloaded to those journeying their way home, and others to homeless people. The team are still munching their way through the rest.

Marshall hopes it will become a yearly tradition much like the anticipated annual Christmas John Lewis advert. He has big ambitions for next year as he imagines a Brio train set forming the route. And in five years, you never know, Londonist.com might have taken over Wembley stadium forming a human tube map.
