Life coach: Dan Rookwood

Our life coach on a 48-hour bag and well-heeled loafers

What bag would you recommend for a dirty weekend?

A good-quality leather 48-hour bag never goes out of style, improves with age and says more about you than any luggage tag — ie, that you’re a well-travelled man of taste who deserves an upgrade. For an investment purchase, head to New Bond Street and check out Louis Vuitton, Longchamp and Coach. My wife and I have had his (£595, above) and hers Mulberry Clipper Scotchgrain holdalls for ten years. Most recently we took them to Lime Wood in the New Forest. And talking of dirty weekends…

Dan loves:

Jimmy Choo

Let me qualify this. I don’t love everything in the Jimmy Choo men’s shoe shop that opened this month opposite Dover Street Market. Those price-on-application anaconda-skin slippers, for example? Uh-uh, not for me. But I do like the high-tops and loafers — this summer’s must-have shoe. Strictly for the well-heeled.
