Jack Black and Kate Hudson made an appearance on the red carpet in Leicester Square today for the European premiere of Kung Fu Panda 3.

Black returns as the voice of giant panda Po with Hudson playing fellow panda Mei Mei in the movie - which has already become the biggest grossing animated feature ever released in China.

The action comedy sees the return of Po’s long-lost father, voiced by Bryan Cranston, and the reunited duo travel to a secret panda paradise where they meet more furry friends.

Black said: “I think that people just love the kung fu, the comedy, the animation and the panda – it’s a combination of a lot of delicious treats.”

While mostly sticking to the script, Black said there was some opportunity to throw in “some flavour crystals”.

Hudson joked that she did very little preparation for the film, which has already grossed over £221m worldwide.

She said: “I just show up to work in my sweats and read the script.”

Hudson added that she celebrating Mother’s Day today: “In America we always just have brunch and my son is half Brit so it’s kind of my Mother’s Day too I guess.”

Kung Fu Panda 3 will be released in cinemas on 11 March.
