Treatment: Deep tissue massage at Spa & Massage

Expert: The wonderful, knowledgable Ann P, who works at the Earl’s Court branch of Spa & Massage four days per week. Very calm, and with a soothing voice, she could tell instantly what I needed and understood how much pressure to apply.

Science: This Swedish-style massage claims to untangle knots and release chronic muscle tension to help you relax.

Results: My experience began well with a homemade herbal “Buddha tea” but the massage itself was hideously uncomfortable at times. However, I slept like a dormouse afterwards and a few days later the pain in my upper back and shoulders had gone.

Cost: £30/30 mins, £50/60 mins, £90/120 mins. Branches in Camden, Fitzrovia and Earl’s Court (open 10am-11pm, Mon-Sun, spaandmassage.co.uk)
