London-born fashion designer and Central Saint Martins graduate Richard Nicoll has died in Sydney aged 39.

Having graduated with an MA in womenswear in 2002, Nicoll started up his eponymous label and began showing at London Fashion Week every season since making his debut in February 2006.

In the June of 2012 the designer made his first foray into menswear, showcasing his debut line for spring/summer 2013 at London Collections: Men.

Alongside his eponymous label, Nicoll worked as creative director at Cerruti from 2009-2011, as well as free-lancing for Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton. He previously collaborated with Topshop and Fred Perry to create one-off capsule collections.

He was hired as creative director at Jack Wills in June 2014 before parting ways amicably in 2015.

Nicoll also closed his eponymous label in 2015 - therefore bowing out of London Fashion Week - in order to focus on other creative projects.

During his career, Nicoll was awarded 3 ANDAM (Association Nationale pour le Développement des Arts de la Mode) prizes and was twice a BFC Vogue Fashion Fund finalist.

The 39-year-old designer was due to join Adidas as creative director in January next year.
