London Fashion Weekend

Kate Lough10 April 2012

As the A-listers and fashion editors fly off to Milan, London Fashion Week's HQ at Somerset House will throw its doors open for a feast of designer and vintage shopping, catwalks, champagne-swigging and makeovers. Vodafone London Fashion Weekend is back.

There'll be designer collections at prices more high street than Bond Street. Browse rails of classics like Jaeger and Pringle or discover gems from up and coming talents including Jas MB and Antipodium. There'll also be a Rigby & Peller lingerie boutique, complete with a tape-measure-wielding fleet of expert fitters.

If your style is more retro, the Hemingway Vintage Boutique is back by popular demand. Wayne and Geraldine Hemingway will be showcasing their finest wares - think flapper dresses, crocodile clutches, luxuriant furs and costume jewellery.

"Gramophone DJ" Auntie Maureen will be setting the mood on Thursday and the Polka Dot Dolls will be serenading all-comers on Friday night. If you're new to vintage don't panic - there will be a concierge to answer any vintage query or dilemma.

Those who dream of the front row can do their best Anna Wintour impression at the popular catwalk events, which will show collections by Holly Fulton and trends styled by Miss Molly - with TV's Zoe Hardman on the microphone.

Shopping is hard work, so you can refuel with high quality British grub at Tom Aiken's restaurant: his special fashion week menu is accompanied by a glass of champers. Or if you're thinking of a purely liquid lunch you could prop yourself up at the Chambord pop-up bar.

For relaxation there's the Cowshed Spa, where you could have a well-deserved massage, facial or other beauty treatment. Then, once your stamina is recovered, you could put yourself in the hands of the Elizabeth Arden beauty maestros for a makeover. For your hair, book in for Toni & Guy's on-site salon or keep the smaller ones in check at the Benefit Brow & Lash bar.

There's also a menswear wing, including DKNY and Vivienne Westwood.

For superstar treatment, do it the VIP way with the platinum package. The private lounge offers flutes of "Chambord Royales", delicious canapés, make-up and hair demos, as well as access to the front row. Not only will you have all-day access, but you will be given a fabulous Holly Fulton show bag, stuffed to the brim with little luxuries.

Four days of fashionable fun. But don't forget to book as tickets sell fast.

Vodafone London Fashion Weekend, Somerset House, WC2R 1LA, February 23-26. Tickets from £16.
