Ladies Day at the Investec Derby Festival brought fashion to the fore when the adrenalin and excitement of the action on-course was matched by the style and glamour off it.
Leading the fashion pack was the 'face' of the festival, British supermodel Erin O'Connor, who judged the annual Style on the Downs competition with official milliner of the Derby Louis Mariette and designer Felicity Brown who were both responsible for Erin's outfit.
The style stakes were high, with fantastic prizes to be won. Elegant and on-trend racegoers gathered for a classic days' racing in the basking sun.
The trio of fashionistas faced a tough task choosing the most stylish person. They were focusing in particular on style and originality, attention to detail, appropriateness of outfit to racing, and appreciation of current fashion trends.
Any lady wearing a hat or fascinator was eligible to enter and only one person could be crowned best-dressed. The judges finally agreed that Mimi Theobald was the best dressed woman on the day. A milliner in her own right, Mimi rocked a buttercup-yellow vintage 1950's dress bought from ebay with the hat she made herself.
Mimi's prize for her fashion triumph was a luxury spa break at Hotel Verta, London, and £1000 to spend at Question Air as well as a chauffeur driven Jaguar XJ for a day with lunch for two at the Savoy's river restaurant.
Erin O'Connor said: "Mimi's outfit was bold and sharp but at the same time effortless and so perfect for the award."
Style and fun are as integral to Investec Ladies Day as world-class racing and the Style on the Downs competition is now an established part of the day's activities. The other big winner on the day was none other than Dancing Rain who took the Investec Oaks in glorious style.
