Londoners do it better was the resounding message in New York on November 13 as Victoria's Secret chose the capital's own Cara Delevingne, Jourdan Dunn and Lily Donaldson to top the bill of its bank busting show.

The British beauties, who are expected to earn in excess of $100,000 each for the privilege, were the first of some 40 supermodels to take a turn on the US lingerie giant's famous crystal studded catwalk. They were joined by fashion royalty Joan Smalls, Karlie Kloss and Adriana Lima.

Camden born Donaldson, a Victoria's Secret veteran, lead out team GB wearing black suspenders, a bowler hat and stockings. She was followed by Delevingne who wore a silk sportswear inspired play-suit and carried a football and by Dunn who modelled a peplum-trimmed velvet riding-jacket and carried a whip.

The show began with a live foot guards parade and closed with a performance by US songstress Taylor Swift who wore a billowing Union Jack print gown. The British segment was devised to affirm the brand's increasing connection with the UK where it now has 3 successful stores and a rapidly increasing customer base.

Speaking to the Standard before the show Jordan Dunn, 23, said she "so excited" to hear that Victoria's Secret would be celebrating its London connection.

"It's amazing to be here in New York representing my hometown with Lilly and Cara. I'm so proud" she said.

Delevingne who is close friends with Dunn and sat alongside her to whilst having her make-up applied added, "getting to spend time with friends is what makes this show such a fun one to do "

Dunn, Delevingne and Donaldson are experienced fashion models used to the catwalks of Milan and Paris and admit that the opportunity to take part in something different is what makes the Victoria's Secret show so appealing.
