When it comes to London Fashion Week, few shows are as hotly anticipated as Burberry’s.

And Riccardo Tisci’s third show as creative director did not disappoint.

Held at Troubadour White City Theatre on Monday night, the runway was as star-studded as the guestlist; with Bella Hadid, Irina Shayk and Agness Deyn among the models chosen to unveil the Italian designer’s summer 2020 collection for the brand. Kendall Jenner also made a surprise appearance rocking all-new platinum blonde locks, dyed by celebrity hair stylist Guido Palau.

When Tisci took the reigns at Burberry in March 2018, he moved the brand away from the grown-up, bookish tendencies that had permeated under his predecessor Christopher Bailey, in favour of a more Instagram-friendly, streetwear-inflected vibe.

And yet Monday’s show saw a move back to some of the understated, sophisticated sensibilities of Burberry of yore. From pretty lace dresses, to belted tailoring and silk scarf-inspired dresses, this was a collection of sophisticated separates and delicate detailing.

There were also plenty of red carpet-ready looks; from fringed blouses and midi skirts to sequin-embellished tuxedos, this collection felt more silver screen than Supreme.
