Influencer Olivia Jade has returned to YouTube after the Operation Varsity Blues college scandal that her parents were involved caused her to spend months away from the streaming platform.

In a video titled “hi again” she discusses her return - but says she cannot comment on the ongoing scandal for legal reasons.

Operation Varsity Blues involved wealthy parents like her mother, Full House star Lori Loughlin, as well as Oscar nominee Felicity Huffman. The parents in question were accused of using bribes, Photoshopping pictures of their children playing sports to gain scholarships and faking SAT scores to get their children into top colleges across the country, including Yale, Georgetown, Stanford, UCLA and USC.

Loughlin reportedly paid $500,000 to have her daughters Olivia Jade and Isabella designated as "sports recruits" in their applications to USC, despite the fact that they never rowed before.

Olivia Jade Giannulli has 1.9 million YouTube subscribers and 1.3 million Instagram followers (this is down from a pre-scandal figure of 1.4 million). The influencer also had several lucrative brand partnerships, including one with Amazon and beauty deals with Sephora and TRESemme. Both deals were canceled after news of the scandal came out and Olivia Jade went quiet on both YouTube and Instagram, only posting a birthday message to her mother in July with a throwback picture. She also disabled the comments on many of her previous posts.

Her latest post on Instagram is a screenshot of her YouTube video titled “hi again,” that’s already received more than 148,000 likes and comments that are largely positive, including plenty of heart emojis and, “We missed you.” It’s possible she’s blocking the negative comments, as she did originally when she and her sister were trolled on social media.

Her new video has amassed more than one million views since it was released 24 hours ago. In the video, she says, “Obviously I’ve been gone for a really long time and as much as I wish I could talk about all of this… it’s just, unfortunately… I’m legally not allowed to speak on anything going on right now.”

She talks about questioning whether she should come back to YouTube after eight months away but says she “genuinely” misses filming and it’s something she’s “really passionate about” and “likes to do.” She thanks her followers for their patience and says it’s “the best I can do.”

It’s unclear on what she’s planning on posting in the future - but if she can’t talk about the controversial scandal, she could return to her regularly scheduled beauty blogging. She certainly won’t be discussing her life at USC, as she’s no longer attending the school.

The video currently has 77k ‘thumbs up’ and 33k ‘thumbs down.’
