Shane Dawson, a YouTube personality known for interviewing infamous YouTubers including Tana Mongeau and Jake Paul, has released the trailer for his much-anticipated documentary on makeup guru Jeffree Star. Dawson has accrued 22.3 million followers on his YouTube channel where he shares these homemade documentaries.

Star first became famous in the MySpace era as a touring musician known for his eclectic look. He has since launched his own successful makeup brand, Jeffree Star Cosmetics.

The first part of the nine-part documentary series is set to debut on Dawson’s YouTube channel on October 1.

The series is titled The Beautiful World of Jeffree Star and is a follow up to his five-part series on Star called The Secret World of Jeffree Star from August 2018.

The trailer shows Dawson and Star traveling together, greeting fans, and working on their upcoming makeup collaboration. It also shows the Tati Westbrook and James Charles drama unfurl.

Westbrook’s name appeared in the news in May of 2019 when she took to her YouTube channel to call out long-time friend and mentee Charles for accepting a brand deal with her direct competitor, Sugar Bear Hair. Westbrook founded her wellness brand, Halo Beauty, in 2018, which sells two multivitamins, one for skin health and one for your hair and nails.

After Charles promoted another brand while at Coachella and then subsequently apologized on YouTube for not supporting Westbrook, she opened up about how Charles’ apology fell short. “I don’t deal well with someone telling me that I need to accept an apology on their terms or to fix their problems. When you can’t have any emotion for the other person who loves you so much and all you’re caring about is your image – I’m not okay with that," she said.

The teaser is set to a performance of Prom Queen by former American Idol contestant Catie Turner, showing snippets of scenes from the documentary and no audio, leaving fans guessing as to what topics the series will truly cover.

One clear topic is Dawson’s engagement to his long-term boyfriend and fellow YouTuber, Ryland Adams. The trailer shows footage of Dawson getting down on one knee to propose to his now fiance.
