One night of the year Sarah Jessica Parker outdoes the fashion-forward wardrobe of her old SATC character Carrie Bradshaw - the night of the Met Gala.

This year’s theme - 'Camp: Notes on Fashion' - is likely to produce some of the most outlandish looks yet, and Parker isn’t expected to come up short.

Every year Parker appears to enjoy pushing the envelope a little more than she did the previous one, but though she's sported some quieter, more classic looks in the past, around 2013 she began to get particularly creative.

Tying in with the 'Punk: Chaos to Couture' theme, Parker turned heads in a Giles Deacon gown, plaid velvet over-the-knee boots and a mohawk headpiece courtesy of Phillip Treacy.

In 2014, for the 'Charles James: Beyond Fashion' theme, she stunned in a white satin Oscar de la Renta dress with her own special touch.

“I said to Mr. De la Renta, please let me use scarlet embroidery thread and splash your name across the back,” said Parker, “it was my idea.”

For the 2015 'China: Through the Looking Glass' theme, Parker broke the Internet with her flaming red Phillip Treacy headdress. Before the Met Gala was over, a slew of memes compared her to characters including Jafar from Aladdin and Darth Maul from Star Wars.

SJP's Dolce ensemble at last year’s 'Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination' Met Gala didn’t take a back seat to any of her previous looks, as she turned out with a full nativity scene on her head.

"I am inspired by the themes,” she told E! on the red carpet. “One can only do your best. This was particularly enjoyable because Dolce & Gabbana—they’re devoted, observant Catholics—and so they’ve grown up with the church and imagery and they had a lot of strong feelings and beautiful sketches, so it was easy.”

Fearless, fashion-forward and not giving a damn about what anyone thinks of your look is just the attitude to bring to the Met Gala red carpet.

Keep winning, SJP - we'll see you on that first Monday in May.
