You beauty! Annabel Rivkin reviews Braun's Silk-Épil 9

Annabel Rivkin's cabinet of wonders
Snazzy: the Braun Silk-Épil 9
Annabel Rivkin18 June 2015

I know I’m late to this party but it’s a revelation. I waxed my legs for ten years. And I always hated it. Leg waxing felt like being slapped again and again. And every time there was a short skirt moment or a date moment, I’d be between waxes, prickly and unnerved. Also, it strips off your tan.

So then I shaved. Which is a bit depressing because it leaves your legs silky for about ten minutes. And that rather dents one’s confidence.

Now I have discovered the thrills of the epilator. I know they’ve been around for generations but I always had something against them. I thought they were icky (this has to be a legacy from some kind of powerful schoolgirl judgement) and assumed they’d be painful. Newsflash: they (or at least the snazzy, vibrating, wide-headed Braun Silk-Épil 9) are properly neat and tidy and the sensation is not at all wincey. Sitting in front of the telly, drifting the Épil 9 up my legs, I felt nothing but satisfaction at the smoothness it left behind. And that glossy calf has lasted just as long as a waxed one would.

This particular model has cleansing and exfoliating attachments and a swishy tweezing mechanism, but many are far cheaper and will, compared with the price of waxing appointments, cover their costs in a couple of sofa sessions.

I am, as you can tell, deeply devoted.
