Zidane 'worst value' player in world

THE financial wizards of Wall Street have concluded that many of the likely stars of the World Cup are not worth their huge price tags.

Forbes used a formula based on playing performance, including passes, goals and games lost because of injury or suspension, to draw up its evaluation. It divided the result by transfer fees and salaries.

It calculated that Zinedine Zidane, who cost Real Madrid £45m and is paid nearly £4m a year, is the worst value for money player in football despite his goal in the final of the Champions League.
