Woman evicted over all-night Tina Turner singalongs

Belter: Hammersmith woman is a fan of Tina Turner's power ballads
12 April 2012

A woman who sang Tina Turner songs at full blast in all-night karaoke sessions has been evicted.

Sleep-deprived neighbours began to complain to Hammersmith and Fulham council within days of the woman, 46, moving into Riverside Gardens, Hammersmith, in August last year.

Months of letters, visits from neighbourhood wardens and housing officers, and even a Noise Abatement Notice failed to silence the racket. She would start belting out power ballads at 8pm and go on all night, accompanied by thumping noises, said neighbours.

Even after an official warning of eviction in November, the partying continued. Court action finally saw her evicted this month.

Councillor Greg Smith said: "This woman had every opportunity to pipe down and give her neighbours some peace, but she refused. Eviction is the last resort but if someone insists on making life a misery for others, we will take all necessary action."
