Windsor win gives Tories their first black MP

The first black MP in Conservative Party history has been elected in Windsor. Computer millionaire Adam Afriyie, 39, won a majority of more than 10,000.

He will represent one of the wealthiest constituencies in Britain as MP for Windsor Castle, Eton College, and celebrities including Sir Elton John and Gary Lineker.

  • The Conservatives reclaimed Guildford by the closest of margins. Anne Milton saw off Lib-Dem Sue Doughty by just 347 votes after two recounts.
  • Reading East switched to the Conservatives from Labour with a swing of 6.95 per cent. In 2001 the Labour majority was 5,595.
