Where is the best Couples Retreat in London? Tell us for your chance to win a prize

5 April 2012

Couples Retreat comes to cinemas on October 14 and it's likely it will get you in the mood for a romantic getaway. But if you can't afford a trip to a tropical island this winter then it may be worth looking a little bit closer to home. Valentine's Day may be months away but there is never an excuse good enough to not treat yourself and your partner to a couples retreat of your very own in the capital.

Here are some suggestions for romantic days out:

1. Thames Barrier Park
Leave the kids at home and take a wander through the Thames Barrier Park. Surrounded by 22 acres of greenery the park boasts a fantastic view of the Thames barrier, serene picnic areas as well as a fountain where you can dance under jets of flowing water in a scene straight out of Greek mythology, where you may fully expect to find Cupid flying over you. A trip best left for the summer, this is one place that contrasts greatly with the urban lifestyle of the city.

2. Boat Trip down the Thames
As the sun sets the city transforms into a colourful and vibrant landscape and there is no better way to see it all than to hop onto a boat and travel through the heart of the metropolis. Take in the bright lights of the OXO tower, the Canival-esque sights of the London Eye and landmarks, like Big Ben or Tower bridge, fantastically lit to show their full pride and glory.

3. Ronnie Scotts
Maybe alcohol and warmth is more your thing, in which case take a journey into Soho and visit the vibrant environment of Ronnie Scotts. Sit down in a dark, cozy corner and take in the rich Jazz history as well as some of the city's most interesting live music. If you are feeling adventurous you could even impress your partner to an impromptu Jazz session, channeling the Jazz greats with a full backing band of music enthusiasts.

4. The London Eye
A trip on the London Eye as the sunsets provides the best way to view the dramatic London skyline. Enjoy the picturesque 360 degree view of the London landscape view your partner as the light fades and transforms the city. A favourite spot for proposals.

5. Primrose Hill
Much like the Thames Barrier Park leave the kids at home and escape to this idyllic area of Regents Park. Primrose Hill is a perfect spot for a romantic walk commanding a spectacular view over London. A walk here in the sun or at sunset provides a total escape from city life and a relaxing spot for a picnic.

While one of the couples is there to work on their marriage, the other three set out to jet ski, spa and enjoy some fun in the sun. They soon discover that participation in the resort's couples therapy is not optional. Suddenly, their group-rate vacation comes at a price. What follows is a hilarious look at real world problems faced by all couples.
