Warning after dock drowning

A coroner has warned Southwark council to increase patrols and improve warning signs after a 14-year-old boy drowned in a dock.

Kafi Ibrahim died when he went swimming in the
Rainbow Quay in May last year. South London coroner Andrew Harris recorded a verdict of accidental death.

But Dr Harris asked the council to increase signage and improve reporting of illegal swimmers in the "dark, deep and dangerous" dock.

Southwark said a review was due to finish next month after which those measures would be taken.
