US forces take on guerrillas

American forces have unleashed a "massive" offensive against the Iraqi resistance.
They attacked a guerrilla training centre to the west of the Iraqi city of Kirkuk with missiles and fighter aircraft and destroyed buildings north of Tikrit believed to have been used to shoot down a Black Hawk helicopter.
Military sources said the operation was "to let the Iraqis know attacks on the coalition will not be tolerated".
