TV girls drugged and robbed in Cannes

The Londoner12 April 2012

TV presenters Susannah Constantine and Trinny Woodall were drugged and robbed in a hotel room at the Cannes film festival, it was revealed today.

The two society girls, who star in the BBC2 fashion makeover show What Not To Wear, were knocked out as they slept by robbers who placed chloroform-soaked pad over their mouths.

While they lay unconscious in bed the robbers took credit cards and cash and even stripped their fingers of rings.

A friend of Susannah, a former girlfriend of Viscount Linley, said today: "They woke up one morning and their hands felt sticky, there was a funny smell in the room and they both felt hungover.

"Trinny doesn't drink at all and Susannah doesn't drink enough to make much of a difference. It transpired they had been chloroformed and all their jewellery had been stolen. The thieves had broken into the room with a plastic card and took everything - even the rings from their fingers."

The pair had been on the French Riviera to film an episode of their BBC2 show What Not To Wear from the Cannes Film Festival. Susannah, 39, is married to cigarette entrepreneur Stan Bertelsen.
