Terror bets brain pays the price

THE brains behind the Pentagon's bizarre plan to allow traders to bet on future terrorist acts, retired admiral John Poindexter, will quit within weeks, according to the US Defense Department.

The programme, dubbed 'terror futures' was cancelled earlier this week after being attacked by politicians on all sides. Poindexter, as President Ronald Reagan's national security adviser, was a key figure in the Iran-Contra scandal during the 1980s and is no stranger to controversy.
