Teenager in club shooting named

13 April 2012

A teenager shot dead in a busy nightclub has been named by police.

Sharif Zaiden, 18, from Ladbroke Grove, west London, has been formally identified after being gunned down in the Egg club.

He was taken by ambulance to hospital, where he was confirmed dead shortly after arrival.

The club in King's Cross, north London, is cordoned off as police continue to search the area, with a post mortem examination on Mr Zaiden set to take place at King's Cross mortuary, said Scotland Yard.

Police were called to reports of shots just before 3am, but said no other people were injured at the "extremely busy" York Way club.

The suspect, believed to have fled from the club after the shooting, is described as light skinned black, about 6ft tall and aged in his twenties.

He was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to call the Incident Room on 020 8345 4134 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
