Sunday is top of the shops

It used to be the day of rest. But in 2004, Sunday has become the day of shopping.

Ten years after trading laws were changed to allow retailers to open seven days a week, the Sabbath has become the second busiest day on the High Street after Saturday.

Some 15 per cent of sales take place on a Sunday - more than twice as many as five years ago - according to a study by commercial law firm Bond Pearce.
