Stoppani's record bid

12 April 2012

Garerth Stoppani is spearheading KCS Wimbledon's quest for a trophy this season despite being out of rugby for the last three years.

Winger and place-kicker Stoppani is now approaching 180 points, the highest in the school's history, and helped KCS beat a valiant Campion to reach the Daily Mail quarter-finals.

The Essex side fought back from 22-0 down to get within three points but Wimbledon managed to hold on in one of the most thrilling ties so far.

Coach Marcus Blackburn said: "We took our foot off the pedal and foolishly thought the game was won. But we learned some valuable lessons."

Wellington, who beat KCS last year, had their tie at St Peters called off due to rain.
