Second boy dies in swimming pool tragedy

12 April 2012

The second of two boys pulled unconscious from a police swimming pool during a holiday activities scheme has died.

William Kadama, 14, from Barnet, had been on a life support machine at Great Ormond Street hospital since the incident at the Metropolitan Police training centre in Hendon last Tuesday.

The machine was switched off yesterday. His friend Gameli Akuklu, also 14, died in hospital on the day of the tragedy. A postmortem examination confirmed the cause of death as drowning. An investigation is under way.
