Roman Abramovich splashes out on £54m retreat

New digs: The Chelsea owner has purchased a £54 million estate in the Caribbean
12 April 2012

It boasts a 1,000ft private beach, 70 acres of land and a swimming pool with its own waterfall.

Roman Abramovich's latest purchase, an £54million estate on the island of St Barts in the Caribbean, is perhaps the world's most impressive holiday home.

It also comes with an outdoor cinema, swim-up bar, and room for 250 party guests.

Mr Abramovich bought the 70-acre estate three months ago and is spending Christmas there, hosting a lavish party with his Russian girlfriend Daria Zhukova, who recently gave birth to their son Aaron.

His purchase of the Gouverneur Bay Estate, once owned by banker David Rockefeller, is believed to be the most expensive deal ever for a Caribbean property.
