Rolf's Gladiator tribute

13 April 2012

Hollywood star Russell Crowe is set to perform at a tribute concert for Rolf Harris.

The Oscar-winning actor says Harris was his "childhood hero" when he was growing up in Australia.

And the Gladiator star has written to the entertainer offering to sing at the Royal Albert Hall gig next month with his rock band 30 Odd Foot Of Grunts.

A delighted Harris, 73, said: "I'm thrilled to bits. I've had the most lovely note from Russell Crowe in which he has been kind enough to say he will be there if he possibly can.

"Wouldn't that be something - on stage at the Royal Albert Hall with the Gladiator himself."

A source said: "Russell sent a hand-written note saying that Rolf was his childhood hero and that Two Little Boys was his favourite song as a child.

"He is trying to arrange his schedule so that he can come over and perform with his band."

The Royal Albert Hall concert celebrates Harris's 50-year career and will be held in aid of The Prince's Trust on September 29.

Other Australian stars such as Kylie Minogue could also put in an appearance at the show, which is to be broadcast on BBC1.

Harris will be playing hits such as Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport and Jake The Peg, as well as painting and sharing memories from his career.
